UniJos Tightens Security After Body of Local Farmer Discovered on Campus

The University of Jos has reinforced security across its permanent site following the discovery of the body of a local farmer within the campus, sparking concern among students and staff.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday morning, triggered an immediate response from the university’s security unit as authorities moved to secure the area and begin preliminary investigations.
Chief Security Officer of the institution, Agama Tangni, confirmed that the deceased was not a student or an employee of the university but a farmer known to cultivate land around the campus.
According to him, the victim was attacked while heading to his farmland, with initial findings suggesting the assailants deliberately targeted him.
Tangni said the deceased’s family had been contacted and the body taken to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital.
He added that the university management had been fully briefed and would continue to keep members of the institution informed as investigations unfold.
To reassure the campus community, the university has increased security patrols and deployed additional personnel across the permanent site.
The Plateau State Police Command had yet to officially comment on the incident as of press time.
