The Senator representing Lagos East, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, has been honoured with the Legislative Excellence Award for Financial Sector Advancement at the 2026 Nairametrics Capital Market Awards held in Lagos.
The recognition highlights Abiru’s contributions to legislative efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s financial services industry and deepening the country’s capital market.
Speaking after receiving the award on Friday, the senator described the honour as a testament to the collective commitment of policymakers, regulators, investors and market operators working to build a stronger financial ecosystem.
Abiru, a former banking executive and currently Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, said he remains committed to promoting laws and policies that enhance investor confidence, expand access to capital and support sustainable economic growth.
