NDC Disowns fake primary results, sets NEC meeting in Abuja
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected as fake and unauthorized the primary election results currently circulating on social media, insisting that only its National Executive Council (NEC) is empowered to announce the official outcome of its nationwide primaries.
The party’s caution comes amid rising speculation over the results of its May 28 and 29 primaries, with multiple unofficial lists claiming to show winners for various elective positions.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the NDC urged members, supporters, and the general public to disregard all circulating results, stressing that the authentic figures remain in the custody of the NEC.
“The results of the primaries are with the National Executive Council of our great party, which is solely responsible for announcing them,” the statement read.
To address emerging concerns and conclude internal deliberations, the party disclosed that its National Leader, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, has approved the convening of a crucial NEC meeting in Abuja.
According to the schedule, NEC members are expected to arrive in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, June 2, for a pre-meeting session, while the main NEC meeting is slated for Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
The party said the meetings will review reports from across the country and finalize the ratification of candidates who will represent the party in forthcoming elections.
It further assured stakeholders that the official list of candidates will be released through appropriate channels and in accordance with electoral guidelines before submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to internal discipline and transparency, adding that the move is aimed at preventing misinformation and safeguarding the integrity of its candidate selection process.
