ADC Primary: Senator Nakudu Sweeps to Victory, Secures Jigawa Governorship Ticket
Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu has emerged as the governorship flagbearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State after recording a commanding victory in the party’s primary election.
The keenly contested exercise ended with Nakudu polling 35,939 votes to defeat fellow aspirant, Hon. Basher Adamu, who garnered 19,533 votes.
Declaring the results at the collation centre located at Tahir Guest Palace on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee and Returning Officer, Alhaji Zaki Mohammed Ahmed, confirmed that a total of 55,476 valid votes were cast during the primary across the state’s local government areas.
Ahmed subsequently returned Senator Nakudu as the duly elected governorship candidate of the ADC for the forthcoming governorship election in Jigawa State.
The declaration sparked jubilation among supporters and party loyalists who thronged the venue to witness the outcome of the exercise.
Political observers say Nakudu’s emergence has now positioned the ADC as a major contender in the evolving political landscape ahead of the next governorship election in Jigawa State.
The primary election, which attracted party stakeholders from across the state, was reportedly conducted peacefully under tight monitoring by party officials and electoral committee members.
