Atiku Abubakar Wins ADC Presidential Primary with Over 1.8 Million Votes

Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election held nationwide.
Atiku secured a total of 1,846,370 votes to clinch the party’s presidential ticket, defeating former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 504,117 votes.
The result was announced following the collation of votes from the party’s nationwide primary exercise.
In his acceptance speech, Atiku expressed appreciation to party members for the confidence reposed in him, describing the process as free, fair, and transparent. He said the ADC coalition represents a collective effort to strengthen democracy and offer Nigerians a credible alternative ahead of the general elections.
He also raised concerns about the state of opposition politics in the country, alleging interference in democratic processes, and called for unity within the party following the primaries.
Atiku urged party stakeholders and supporters to focus on preparations for the general elections, stressing that the task ahead is to “rescue the country” and address its economic and security challenges.
