Organised Labour suspends nationwide strike for five days

To allow for proper negotiation with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage, the Organised Labour made up Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) has suspended the nationwide strike for five days

Recall that the Labour leaders had on Monday, June 3, 2024 embarked on a nationwide strike over minimum wage and increase in electricity tariff.

Labour had reached an agreement with the federal government on the benchmark for a new minimum wage on Monday.

The tripartite committee will continue negotiations during the period of the suspension of the strike, TheCable understands.
