Salem University Celebrates Archbishop Sam Amaga at 73

Salem University, Lokoja, has felicitated with its founder and Chancellor, Archbishop Sam Amaga, on his 73rd birthday, praising his enduring impact on spiritual growth, education, and philanthropy.
In a statement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Alewo Akubo, described Archbishop Amaga, who also serves as Presiding Bishop of Foundation Faith Church Worldwide, as a “trailblazer and charismatic leader” whose life has been dedicated to transforming lives through faith, education, and service.
Prof. Akubo highlighted the Archbishop’s philanthropic initiatives, particularly the Sam Amaga Foundation and its flagship program, Project One Million, which has provided scholarships to over 200 orphans across Nigeria. Many beneficiaries have graduated from Salem University and other institutions, while others continue to pursue higher education.
“These beneficiaries are today becoming change agents, positively impacting their communities,” the Vice-Chancellor said, emphasizing that Archbishop Amaga’s commitment to human development continues to inspire both the university community and the nation at large.
He also noted that the Archbishop’s dedication to nurturing future leaders and promoting excellence in spiritual and academic spheres remains central to the university’s vision of producing responsible, transformative leaders.
“As our Chancellor marks his 73rd birthday, the entire Salem University family celebrates his life of service, godly influence, and unwavering commitment to humanity,” Prof. Akubo stated, joining family, staff, and well-wishers in praying for the Archbishop’s continued health, peace, and strength.
Archbishop Amaga’s life and achievements were described as exemplary, highlighting his contributions to education, faith, and national development as a model worthy of emulation.
