Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has called on residents of Kogi State to uphold religious tolerance, remain vigilant, and promote peaceful coexistence as Muslims and Christians commence the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent on the same day.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Ismaila Isah, the Governor described Ramadan and Lent as sacred periods of fasting, prayer, reflection, and spiritual rejuvenation for Muslims and Christians respectively.
According to him, the simultaneous observance of both holy seasons presents a unique opportunity for adherents of the two faiths to deepen their relationship with Almighty God and reaffirm their commitment to compassion, charity, humility, sacrifice, and self-discipline.
Governor Ododo urged the faithful to use the solemn period to pray for sustained peace, stability, and development in Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding freedom of worship and strengthening peaceful coexistence among people of diverse religious backgrounds across the state.
The Governor also prayed that Almighty God accepts the fasts, prayers, and acts of devotion offered during Ramadan and Lent. He further encouraged citizens to remain law-abiding and vigilant, while extending love and support to the less privileged, stressing that kindness, mutual respect, and unity reflect the true essence of the sacred seasons.
