Yar’Adua Mourns Ilorin Chief Imam, Describes Cleric’s demise as National Loss

The Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, has described the death of the Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu, as a profound loss to Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Senator Yar’Adua said the late Islamic scholar was widely respected for his commitment to peace, moral leadership, and the advancement of Islamic knowledge.
He noted that Sheikh Bashir Soliu played a significant role in promoting unity and peaceful coexistence, particularly within Ilorin Emirate, where he served as a spiritual guide and mentor to generations of Muslims.
The Northern Senators Forum chairman extended condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, the Government and people of Kwara State, and the Muslim community nationwide, stressing that the cleric’s death has created a void in religious leadership.
According to the statement, the late Chief Imam’s humility, wisdom, and dedication to faith earned him admiration beyond religious boundaries and contributed to harmony within society.
Senator Yar’Adua prayed that Almighty Allah grant Sheikh Bashir Soliu Al-Jannah Firdaus and urged Nigerians to uphold the values of peace, tolerance, and service to humanity which the late cleric exemplified.
