President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered a full investigation into the killing of a Kano housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children, using the tragedy to reinforce the Federal Government’s stance that violence within homes and communities is a national security and moral issue.
The President, reacting to the incident in Chiranci community, Kano State, described the murders as a brutal violation of the sanctity of life, stressing that no society can progress while such acts go unchecked.
Beyond condemning the killings, Tinubu commended the Nigeria Police Force for swiftly arresting the principal suspects and directed security agencies to ensure that the case is pursued with speed, transparency, and justice, sending a clear signal that impunity will not be tolerated.
He noted that crimes of this nature often thrive in silence and fear, urging communities to work closely with law enforcement by sharing credible information that can prevent violence before it escalates.
The President reaffirmed that protecting lives—especially those of women and children—remains a core responsibility of government, adding that justice for the victims must also serve as a deterrent to similar crimes nationwide.
In a related statement, President Tinubu expressed sadness over the death of Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, a prominent Kano businessman whose influence extended beyond commerce into national unity advocacy.
The late Abdulaziz was National President of the Harmonised Traders Association of Nigeria and founder of the Patriotic Elders Network for Peace (PENP), through which he promoted peaceful coexistence and patriotism.
Tinubu described his passing as a loss to Nigeria’s business and civic landscape, recalling his support during the 2023 presidential campaign and his consistent calls for unity across ethnic and regional lines.
The President condoled with the family of the deceased, the Kano business community, and the Kano State Government.
