Kogi Adopts Tax Reform Laws as Ododo Assents to Two Revenue Bills

KOGI State Government has domesticated the Nigeria Tax Reform Acts with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo signing into law two key revenue bills, aligning with the Federal Government’s new tax reforms.
The bills include Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (Establishment) Law, 2025 and Kogi State Taxes and Levies (Approved List for Collection) Law, 2025, signed into law on Wednesday.
According to the Governor, this development is expected to boost the state internally generated revenue, enhance transparency in governance, and promote economic growth.
Key benefits of the laws as enshrined in the laws include exemption of low-income earners, individuals earning below N800,000 annually from tax.
This is also expected to Increase investment as simplified tax processes and reduced compliance costs will attract businesses.
The entire process is Technology-driven as the digitalised tax administration mechanism will reduce human interference and promote efficiency and accountability.
The New Tax Laws aim to support structural reset, drive harmonisation, and protect dignity, rather than raise tax obligations. (Ends)
