Imasuen Reaffirms Commitment to Edo South, Unveils Youth, Grassroots Focus for 2026

Senator Neda Imasuen has renewed his commitment to people-driven representation in Edo South Senatorial District, pledging expanded empowerment initiatives and stronger legislative advocacy in 2026.
In a New Year message to constituents, the lawmaker thanked residents of Edo South for their trust and support throughout 2025, describing it as the backbone of the progress recorded during the year. He said the period was defined by deliberate action in both legislative duties and constituency engagement.
Imasuen noted that his work in the National Assembly remained anchored on promoting accountability, strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring that the interests of Edo South were protected through people-centred legislation.
Outside the chambers, he said his office rolled out empowerment programmes targeted at youths, women, farmers and grassroots communities, stressing that the focus was on initiatives capable of delivering sustainable impact rather than symbolic interventions.
A major highlight of the year, according to the senator, was the maiden edition of the Benin Unity Cup Football Tournament, which he described as a platform for unity and talent development. He revealed that 35 promising young footballers were discovered during the tournament and are now receiving structured professional support for possible careers within and outside Nigeria.
He said the success of the competition reinforced the importance of sports as a tool for youth engagement, discipline and economic opportunity, adding that similar programmes would be scaled up in the new year.
Looking ahead, Imasuen expressed confidence that 2026 would bring broader democratic gains, deeper inclusion and expanded opportunities for Edo South, with sustained collaboration between the people and their elected representative.
He concluded by wishing residents a peaceful, healthy and prosperous New Year, assuring them of his continued dedication to building a stronger Edo South and contributing to national development.
