Kogi First Lady’s SSA Brings Christmas Relief to Over 100 Women in Okehi

In the spirit of the yuletide season, Hon. Janet Samuel, Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State First Lady on Electronic Media, brightened the festive celebrations of over 100 vulnerable women in Uboro/Omavie/Ohuepe Ward, Okehi Local Government Area.
The outreach distributed 5kg bags of rice, essential groceries, and cash to widows, elderly women, and persons with disabilities, reinforcing the message of inclusivity and compassion across both Christian and Muslim communities.
Hon. Janet said the initiative reflects the people-focused vision of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and First Lady Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo. “No woman should go hungry or be left behind. Our goal is to ensure that women at the grassroots celebrate Christmas with dignity,” she stated.
She also commended the First Lady’s unwavering commitment to grassroots empowerment and humanitarian efforts, noting that the gesture complements broader state policies aimed at improving citizens’ welfare, including timely salaries and infrastructure development.
Local leaders praised the initiative, highlighting its impact on the community. Former APC Chairman of Okehi Local Government, Hon. Dauda Momohjimoh, lauded ongoing road projects linking villages and called for a clean water source in the area. Ward Special Assistant, Hon. Hajara Achi, said the outreach would help alleviate the effects of the current economic challenges.
Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude. Widow Mrs. Asmau Umar described the support as unprecedented, noting, “This is the first time we are receiving rice in such quantity.” She prayed for the success of the Governor, the First Lady, and the organisers ahead of the 2027 elections.
The initiative highlights the growing role of grassroots-led humanitarian efforts in Kogi State, promoting social cohesion and bringing governance closer to the people.
