FG Reaffirms Support for Institutions Driving Economic Growth

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to supporting institutions that underpin economic growth and national stability. The assurance was given by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, during a meeting with a delegation from the Police Service Commission (PSC) in Abuja.
The PSC delegation, led by Secretary Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, briefed the Minister on ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security framework.
Discussions focused on enhancing recruitment processes, aligning resources with national priorities, and ensuring the Police Force operates as a modern, accountable institution capable of responding effectively to emerging security challenges.
Minister Edun emphasised the vital role of security institutions in promoting economic growth. He stated that robust and effective security structures reduce the economic impact of insecurity, ease pressure on public-sector systems, and sustain investor confidence. “Supporting institutions that ensure safety and stability is central to the Federal Government’s broader agenda of economic development,” he said.
The meeting also underscored a shared commitment between the Ministry of Finance and the PSC to work collaboratively in support of national stability and long-term economic growth. By integrating security considerations into national planning and resource allocation, the government aims to create an enabling environment for businesses, investors, and citizens.
Speaking on the importance of institutional cooperation, Minister Edun noted that well-resourced security agencies are key to sustaining development across all sectors. “Ensuring a modern and accountable Police Force is not just about safety; it is also about creating a predictable and secure environment for economic activities,” he added.
The PSC delegation thanked the Ministry for its support and expressed readiness to continue working with the Federal Government to enhance institutional efficiency and accountability within the security sector.
The discussions concluded with a commitment to sustained collaboration, reflecting the government’s proactive approach to fostering a secure, stable, and economically vibrant Nigeria.
