Ododo Mourns the Passing of Etsu Bassa Nge, Alhaji Abu Ali
Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed deep sadness over the death of His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Abu Ali, the Etsu of Bassa Nge Kingdom and former Military Governor of Bauchi State.
In a condolence message shared through his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo described the late monarch as a father figure, a source of wisdom, and a stabilizing force whose leadership fostered peace, unity, and development in Kogi State and beyond.
“The passing of His Royal Majesty is a profound loss. Throughout his life, he served his people with discipline, humility, and unwavering dedication. His wise counsel and steadfast commitment to the unity of our state will be greatly missed,” the governor said.
He praised the late Etsu as a king whose reign brought stability and progress to the Bassa Nge Kingdom and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul. Governor Ododo urged the family, the people of Bassa Nge, and all who mourn him to find solace in his enduring legacy of service, humility, and wisdom.
Alhaji Abu Ali, a retired Brigadier General, served as Military Governor of Bauchi State from September 1990 to January 1992. He passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the age of 82.
