In his sermon, titled, “The Power of Care”, the Cleric said a nation where the leadership takes due cognizance of the plight of the citizens and takes genuine steps to address them, growth is inevitable.

He urged Christians to take the Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ, on them and help to wipe the tears off people’s faces, through love and care in line with the scriptural provisions. 1 John 4:8 – “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

“All it takes is our prayers and display of brotherly love in giving and prayers for one another and our economy shall turn around for the better,” he said.

The Cleric further enjoined Nigerians to always give to the poor to assuage their plight saying, “Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble” (Psalms 41:1).

On this premise and in line with the scriptures, he said, many find themselves alone without help in times of trouble because they don’t help others.

PICR Nathaniel enjoined journalists to use their profession to preach love for Nigerians to embrace the Power of Care, in being their “Brothers’ Keepers” to enable Nigeria grow and get its citizens out of the shackles of poverty.

Pastor Mark Abuh, also of Region 24 headquarters who coordinated the prayer session for the NUJ, prayed for the success of the Kogi State Council 2025 Press Week.

He urged journalists as the Fourth Estate of the Realm and an important link between the duty bearers and the people, to always portray and present the true pictures of the peoples’ plight.

Chairman of the Kogi Council of the NUJ, Alhaji Seidu Ademu Haruna has earlier told the Church that the Press Week commenced on Friday, September 19th and as was customary with the Council, the face of God must be sought for His touch.

The Chairman commended the leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) for always being there as pillar for the Union and its members, many of whom are also members of the church. (Ends)
