The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has confirmed Barr. Ayuba Wandai Usman for reappointment as Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC).
Speaker Danladi Jatau announced the approval Tuesday after Wandai’s screening in Lafia, urging him to uphold integrity in discharging his duties.
Jatau directed the Clerk to convey the resolution to Governor Abdullahi Sule for further action. Lawmakers from Wandai’s constituency praised his experience and achievements, calling for his confirmation.
Majority Leader Suleiman Yakubu Azara moved the motion, seconded by Minority Leader Luka Iliya Zhekaba, leading to unanimous approval.
Speaking with reporters, Wandai pledged to maintain transparent, free, and fair local government elections. He said the 2024 poll under his leadership was widely regarded as the state’s best.
Wandai thanked the House and Governor Sule for their support, vowing to deliver unbiased electoral processes.
Governor Sule had submitted Wandai’s name for reappointment on Monday.
