NSF Pays Tribute to Emir of Zuru, Celebrates His Legacy of Service
The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has mourned the passing of the Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness Major General Mohammed Sani Sami (Gomo II), describing him as a soldier of honour, a visionary statesman, and a revered traditional ruler whose legacy of service will endure.
In a condolence message, the Forum said it stands with his family, the Zuru Emirate, the government and people of Kebbi State, and indeed the entire nation, in mourning the loss of a patriot who devoted his life to Nigeria.
Chairman of the Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, noted that the late Emir rose to the rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army, serving gallantly during the Civil War (1967–1970). As Military Governor of Bauchi State (1983–1985), he introduced reforms with lasting impact — from the “Back to Land” agricultural initiative to improved healthcare facilities, while also securing global attention when Bauchi hosted the World Handball Championship.

Beyond his military and administrative service, the Emir was revered for his wisdom, humility, and courage. As the custodian of the Zuru Emirate, he became a pillar of unity, a promoter of peace, and a leader whose influence touched countless lives.
“The Northern Senators Forum remembers him as a bridge-builder whose discipline, patriotism, and service to humanity will remain a guiding light,” the statement read. “His passing is not just a loss to Zuru Emirate and Kebbi State, but to the entire nation.”
The Forum prayed Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and comfort his family, the Zuru Emirate, and all who mourn him.
