Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, has charged newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and service to the people.
Speaking during a decoration ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Lokoja, CP Dantawaye emphasized that promotions are not just rewards, but a call to greater responsibility and higher expectations.
Six officers were decorated during the event — five newly promoted Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and one Superintendent of Police (SP).
According to a statement issued by SP William Ovye Aya, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the promotions reflect the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to strengthening leadership within the Force and boosting morale through merit-based advancement.
“The Inspector General, in his motivational leadership, approved the elevation of these officers as part of a broader effort to reward professionalism, dedication, and leadership capacity within the Force,” the statement read.
The officers decorated included, ACP Aliyu Demba, Officer-in-Charge, State Intelligence Department (SID), ACP Mustapha Tijjani, ACP Admin, ACP Ibrahim Jawi, Area Commander, Ankpa, ACP George Ekpe, Area Commander, Okehi, ACP Kalu Nnana, Area Commander, Idah and SP Margaret Idowu Ikheloa, Second-in-Command (2i/c), Medical Unit
Congratulating the officers, CP Dantawaye urged them to redouble their efforts in the service of the nation and to see their new ranks as a mandate to lead with integrity, commitment, and empathy.
“Let your rank be a blessing to others, not a tool for oppression,” he warned, encouraging them to uplift junior officers and foster professionalism across all levels.
The Commissioner concluded by urging the entire Command to emulate the dedication and discipline that earned these officers their elevation, as the Police continue to play a critical role in securing lives and property in Kogi State and across the country.
