Rano Sharia Council Bans Wedding DJs to Uphold Islamic Values

As concerns mount over rising indecent behavior at wedding events, the Sharia Council in Rano Local Government Area has taken a bold step to restore moral order by banning the use of DJs at wedding ceremonies.
The decision was announced by Malam Idris Garba, Chairman of the Sharia Council, during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at the Rano Islamic Centre. The meeting brought together village heads, security officials, Hisbah corps, and a representative from the Rano Emirate Council.
Malam Garba said the presence of DJs at weddings had become a source of moral degeneration, encouraging behavior that contradicts Islamic teachings and cultural values. He called for joint enforcement efforts by traditional leaders, religious authorities, and law enforcement agencies.
Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Isa Umar, the Waziri of Rano, Malam Kabiru Sani, cited Qur’anic injunctions supporting the move and assured the gathering of the Emirate Council’s full backing in upholding the directive.
In a related message, the Chairman of Rano Local Government Council, Malam Naziru Yau, represented by Rt. Hon. Ahmed Jibrin, condemned the trend of public indecency, especially during the controversial “Kauyawa Day”. He issued a stern warning to anyone found organizing or financing such events: they will face the full weight of the law.
Adding their voices, Hisbah Commandant Malam Musbahu Rurum and the Director of Personnel Management, Alhaji Ado Danazumi, urged village heads and community leaders to report any violations promptly to ensure swift action.
The move is part of a broader campaign to safeguard cultural integrity and promote a morally upright society in Rano.
