ACYLF Hails First Lady Remi Tinubu for Lifesaving Interventions in Northern Nigeria
The Arewa Christian Youth Leadership Forum (ACYLF) has showered accolades on Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for what it calls “life-changing, inclusive, and compassionate interventions” across Northern Nigeria through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, the group described the First Lady as “a mother to the nation in both words and deeds,” praising her for delivering impactful programs in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and humanitarian relief—particularly to communities affected by conflict, poverty, and displacement.
“Her commitment to the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians, regardless of region or religion, sets a new benchmark for leadership,” the forum stated.
Among the First Lady’s most notable efforts is her ₦500 million donation to flood victims in Borno State, alongside food, clothing, and essential supplies for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across the Northeast.
She also donated ₦110 million to support the families of 22 Kano athletes who died in a tragic road accident—a gesture widely praised as symbolic of national empathy and solidarity.
Senator Tinubu’s micro-grant schemes have reached thousands of rural women. In Kaduna State, 1,000 petty traders each received ₦50,000, while 500 women in Kogi and 200 in Yobe also benefitted from similar financial support—efforts ACYLF says are revitalizing local economies and fostering long-term self-reliance.
“These are not token handouts,” the group emphasized, “but deliberate investments in family welfare and community resilience.”
Through partnerships with AUDA-NEPAD and the African School of Economics, the Renewed Hope Initiative recently awarded 200 scholarships to Nigerian youths. Additionally, the First Lady commissioned an Alternative High School for Girls and an ICT Centre in Bauchi State, providing vital second-chance education for young women affected by early pregnancies or economic hardship.
The group also commended her push to expand rural healthcare access, calling it consistent with ACYLF’s own advocacy for inclusive development.
Senator Tinubu’s election to the Steering Committee of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) was hailed by the forum as a significant milestone, elevating both Nigeria and Northern Nigeria on the continental development agenda.
Her Christmas outreach to Christian communities in Bauchi and peace advocacy efforts during times of ethnic or religious tension were also praised as “bridges of unity” in a diverse nation.
“Senator Remi Tinubu is leading by example,” ACYLF concluded. “Her Renewed Hope Initiative is more than a program—it is a movement that is reshaping lives across the North.”
The group pledged continued support for the First Lady’s vision, praying for wisdom and strength as she supports the Tinubu administration’s broader national agenda.
