Terror Expands Grip: CRA Confirms 80 Communities Fallen in Benue, Plateau
The Christian Rights Agenda (CRA) has raised the alarm over a terrifying new reality unfolding in Nigeria: over 80 communities in Benue, Plateau, and Borno states have reportedly been overrun by terrorist groups linked to ISWAP and Fulani militias.
In a statement on Sunday, CRA warned that the country faces a creeping insurgency that is systematically displacing Christian populations and seizing ancestral lands with little resistance.
Reverend Kallamu Musa Dikwa, Secretary-General of CRA, said field teams dispatched to affected areas have documented “extensive loss of lives, scorched villages, and entire populations driven into exile.”
“The violence is calculated, the pattern is clear — this is no longer just farmer-herder clashes; it is a campaign of conquest,” Dikwa said.
The CRA expressed concern that despite recent presidential orders for security agencies to act decisively, response on the ground remains slow and inadequate.
It cautioned the Federal Government against what it described as “cosmetic interventions” that only scratch the surface without tackling the root causes or punishing collaborators.
Dikwa urged state governors to confront the truth without political bias.
“Silence or distortion of facts only emboldens the attackers. The victims deserve honesty and urgent protection,” he said.
The group called on President Tinubu’s administration to declare parts of Benue and Plateau emergency zones, deploy specialized counter-terror units, and open a transparent investigation into the failures that allowed terrorists to take hold.
“The time for press statements is over,” CRA warned. “What is at stake now is the survival of entire communities — and by extension, the future of Nigeria.”
