Akogun Adeogun to IGP: Probe Blackmail, False Murder Claim
Akogun Adeogun to IGP: Probe Blackmail, False Murder ClaimA member of the Living Faith Church’s Land Committee, Akogun Elijah Adeogun has urged Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to investigate alleged blackmail and murder charges leveled against him by land speculators in Osuke, Ogun State.
Adeogun claims his ordeal began after his selection as a member of the Land Committee of Living Faith Church, which owns land in Osuke.
According to him, land speculators unhappy with his role have falsely linked him to unrest in the community that resulted in the death of one Obasanjo Jinadu Saheed.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Adeogun maintained that he was not in Osuke at the time of the incident and has no personal stake in the disputed land.
“I am not from Osuke; I have been there only once in my life. My role in the church’s Land Committee is strictly advisory. I was in court on the day of the alleged unrest, and the police have verified this,” he stated.
He accused certain individuals of using the police to harass and frame him, revealing that they had petitioned the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Zone 2 to arrest him.
“I will not allow this blackmail to continue. I appeal to the IGP for a thorough investigation to clear my name and hold those responsible accountable,” Adeogun said.
He called for justice and an end to what he described as a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
