Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Kingsley Moghalu has denied being a member of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s policy team for the 2027 presidential campaign.
Moghalu said his name was published as a member of the team without his knowledge or consent.
In a statement on Thursday, the former CBN deputy governor said he was “surprised” to see his name listed in a statement attributed to the Atiku Abubakar and African Democratic Congress campaign team.
“For the record, I was not consulted and did not give my consent to my name being published as a member of the ADC candidate’s policy team,” he stated.
Moghalu further clarified that he was not a member of Atiku’s policy team, either officially or in an advisory capacity.
He also said he had withdrawn from partisan politics since 2022 and had maintained a non-partisan position in Nigeria’s national affairs.
“I am not a member or sympathizer of any political party in Nigeria,” he said.
According to him, his current engagements are focused on public policy and geopolitical risk through his roles as President of IGET Africa, a non-partisan public policy think tank and executive education academy, and Chief Executive Officer of Sogato Strategies.
Moghalu said his commitment to Nigeria’s development should not be interpreted as support for any political party or candidate.
“I remain committed to my country, Nigeria and its progress, but such commitment does not have to entail ANY partisan alignment,” he said.
“I have adopted the path of statesmanship, not partisanship.”
The clarification comes amid political realignments and coalition-building ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
