The Northern Senators Forum has paid tribute to former Katsina South Senator, Bello Mandiya, describing his death at 62 as a major loss to Katsina State and Nigeria.
In a condolence statement issued on Tuesday, the forum’s Chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, described Mandiya as a committed public servant whose contributions to the Ninth National Assembly would be remembered.
Mandiya represented Katsina South in the Senate from 2019 to 2023.
Before joining the Senate, he served as Chief of Staff to former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari.
The forum said Mandiya brought loyalty, political maturity and a commitment to dialogue to his years in public service.
It described him as a dependable colleague and bridge-builder who promoted cooperation among senators despite political differences.
According to the forum, Mandiya believed strongly in Nigeria’s unity and approached public office as an opportunity to contribute to national development.
The Northern Senators Forum extended its condolences to his family, the Katsina State Government, the people of Katsina South, his political associates and former National Assembly colleagues.
The forum prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
It also prayed for strength and comfort for his family and loved ones.
